And he said to them, ²⁴ Strive to enter in at the straight gate: for many, I say to you, will seek to enter in, and will not be able. ²⁵ When once+ + the master of the house is risen up, and has shut to the door, and you begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us; and he will answer and say to you, I know you not where you are: ²⁶ Then will you begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in your presence, and you have taught in our streets. ²⁷ But he will say, I tell you, I know you not where you are; depart from me, all you workers of iniquity. ²⁸ There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you will see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out. ²⁹ And they will come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and will sit down in the kingdom of God. ³⁰ And, see, there are last which will be first, and there are first which will be last. ³¹ The same+ day there came certain of the Pharisees, saying to him, Go out, and depart far from here: for Herod will kill you. ³² And he said to them, Go you, and tell that fox, See, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and tomorrow, and the third day I will be perfected. ³³ Nevertheless I must walk to day, and tomorrow, and the day following: for it cannot be+ that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem. ³⁴ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which kill the prophets, and stones them that are sent to you; how often would I have gathered your children together, as+ a hen Does gather her brood under her wings, and you would not! ³⁵ See, your house is left to you desolate: and truly I say to you, You will not see me, until+ the time come when you will say, Blessed is he that comes in the name of the Lord.
